8 Tips to Reach Your Home Business Goals


#1.  Believe in you and your business.

It is important to be 100% sold about your  business.  Only when you are 100% sold, then you will attract more customers and business partners your way.

If your thinking.. “nobody will purchase from me”,  “Nobody wants to join my business”.  I promise that is what you will attract more of.

If you’re not 100% sold about your business, go and study more about your industry.

Millions of people are also starting homebased businesses everyday and the good news is that they don’t even know that your company exists!  This is an incredible opportunity for you!

#2.  Remember your “why”
Always ask yourself “why did you join the business”? Whatever your “why” is, that is your dream.  Don’t let anyone kill your dream. They can’t do that without  your permission.

So what is your why?  Was it your family? Do you want more freedom?  Are you tired of working for someone else? Whatever your reason is, keep that in front of you.  Your “why” will keep you moving forward on good and bad days.

#3.   Remove “weeds” from your mind.  That negativity and low self-esteem has to go.
Every day you have a choice.  You can choose to complain and get frustrated when circumstances are not to your liking and focus on the negative, or you can choose to see the positive – to plant positive thoughts.

When tempted to complain about something – STOP!  Do not verbalize it. Do not keep thinking about it in a negative light.  Instead, focus on what it is you have to be thankful for in that situation. Intentionally find and focus on the positive. You will feel a lightness in your spirit that will carry you through the situation with calmness and peace – a much better alternative!

One area some people personally struggle with is to plant positive thoughts in regard to themselves. When they goof up on something, they tend to be hard on themselves. But even in self talk, if you discipline your thoughts to stay positive, you’ll find that you are more able to move on to the next thing with confidence and joy.  Joel Osteen says, “Change the way you speak about yourself and you can change your life.”

So what are the “weeds” in YOUR life that need to be cleared out?

Pay close attention what is going thru your mind and recognize it.
Are you saying things such as…”I can’t do this business, I’m not smart enough, I don’t have what it takes to succeed?’

The TRUTH is that  you HAVE GREAT VALUE
You HAVE the potential to do amazing things!
You ARE good at MANY things

Keep these truths about yourself with you or taped to something where you will see them and read them aloud several times a day. This may seem rather strange. But think of this as the FERTILIZER that will help the beautiful flowers in your garden grow and help you get rid of those nasty weeds! It really works! But why out loud, you ask? And won’t everyone think I’m CRAZY?  Well, they might, but first of all don’t be concerned with what everyone else  thinks!  Second, you do this out loud because there is something powerful about speaking out loud.

Clear out those “weeds” so you can have room for the BEAUTIFUL thoughts that we were meant to have. Prepare the way to grow the lovely garden in your mind which will ultimately lead to a  LOVELIER LIFE!

#4.  Don’t work undercover &  BE PROUD your business.  
Always be proud of your business and let EVERYONE know about your business. Don’t work undercover. Find casual occasions to let people know about your product or service and how you can help them.

It May Be Uneasy But It’s Worth It
Alright, so you want to stay in your comfort zone. Yet you want to see your business grow. You know all you have to do is….do something!  But since you find it hard and trying you just stay where you are, silently telling yourself “Ah, maybe it wouldn’t have worked anyway” and accept that that’s all life has in stock for you.

But why would you give up? When all you have to do is pull yourself together and get over your fears. Because that’s when miracles begin to happen. That’s when you can pat yourself on the back and be proud of yourself. That’s when you get things done. That’s when you get one step closer to your goal. Regardless of the results. Results will show in the end. They always do. Just be patient with yourself and accept that you have arrived to the boundaries of your comfort zone which you are about to cross. It is okay to be afraid. It is okay to be nervous. It is okay to ask for help. It is okay to be shy. Once you are done – be proud! You will FEEL much better. And like I said, good things (even if they don’t always seem like good ones) will start to happen when you finally decide that you’ve had enough and you are going to build a fantastic business for you and your family. The feeling is incredible!

#6.  Fears have to go.
Fears is the #1 killer of any business.  As soon as you can release your fears, then you can move your business forward.

Your job is  to let people know about your business and there are very little “mistakes” in marketing a business. So relax!

I know sometimes we might have friends, relatives and associates who do their best to caution and discourage us about starting our own home business.  And that is fine.

Here is something that always works for me: Ask  the “what ifs” and start by looking at the worst things that could happen. Identify what’s the worst thing that can happen if the business fails. Thinking through the worst thing could help you get a feel for the risks involved, and whether you can handle the risks if and when it happens.

What is the worst case scenario.  
You build a small customers and refer a few consultants. You receive great home office deductions and you develop some great marketing and personal development skills. Can you live with that?

The other case scenario is that you build a GREAT customer base, you have excited and motivated consultants that are helping you sell and pushing you to new levels.  You also  receive GREAT home office deductions. Can you live with that?

We have discovered that one you actually plunge into a business of your own you will discover the happiness found in sweat equity and the building up of something that is YOUR business.  You are the BOSS and the CEO of our company.   There is freedom in being your own boss and having  complete control of your future.  This alone is priceless!

#7.  Stay  focused, consistent and persistent.
As we are working at home.  Sometimes it’s easy to lose our focus.
A vision board will help to keep you focused.  The focus will keep you working your business and if you stay consistent, and persistent you will be able to grow an incredible business.


#8.  Build Relationships & Support System.
Sometimes, you can’t do everything by yourself.  Find like-minded individuals who you can trust and know that you can lean on. Find people who can understand what you’re going through, and you know is on your side. A support network — whether your family, friends, people you meet in networking organizations, or virtual friends — can be your cheerleader encouraging you to continue with your path and celebrating all your successes, big and small. Your network can also be your anchor when the going gets rough. They can give you advice, open doors for you, or introduce you to people who can help you. More importantly, they can talk and listen to you when fear and doubts start to set in. 


What You Need to Know Before Starting a Direct Selling Business

There are a lot of companies that will offer you a commission if you sell their product. Some of these are reputable companies that will support you and enable you to make a living. Some companies might not be so helpful. So, how do you know which company is best for you?
Ask questions.
• What are the start-up costs? Is there a starter kit? If so, what’s in it? What else do you need? Ask your recruiter how much money she had invested in the business before she started to see a profit.
• How much money will you make? Ah, the big question. Be very wary of people who tell you that you will get rich overnight. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
• What percentage is the commission? Will you make 10% of what you sell? Or 30%?
• Is there a quota? Do you need to sell a certain amount of product in order to stay active?
• Will you be responsible for collecting money yourself? This might not seem like a major factor, but it can be. First of all, it’s a lot to keep track of. Second of all, how are your math skills? Third, it’s a responsibility: having the money in your car, in your house, getting it into the right bank account. And what if your customers don’t pay? Will you be stuck with the loss?
• What is the success rate? How many people who start this business do it for a year? How many do it for five years? What is the percentage of consultants who sell this product for their sole source of income?
• Do you need to carry an inventory? Some people will tell you that you can’t sell from any empty basket. This is the 21st century and you can most certainly sell from an empty basket. People do it all the time. If a company tells you that you need to purchase $1000 worth of inventory in order to get started, consider the implications. Do you have the storage space? Will you need to insure it? How will you protect it from the kids, and the dog? Is an inventory really necessary?
• Is training available? What will this training look like? Will it cost you thousands of dollars to go a conference hundreds of miles away? Or is the training free? Will you have a real person available to you? Is training available online? Will you be able to get the help you need?
• Is training mandatory? Are their obligatory weekly or monthly meetings that you need to attend? Do you have to join in on a conference call at a specific time? How will mandatory training fit into your life?
• Does this company have a multi-level marketing plan? Ask the person who is recruiting you, “Do you make money if I sign here?” While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, and while lots of money can be made in an MLM company, this is something you should know. It can help you analyze your recruiter’s motives. Does he really want to help you? Or does she just want the $50 recruitment bonus?
• What is the ongoing investment? Do you need to buy your own catalogues? Do you need to buy samples or demonstration items? Will you have a website? If so, who will pay for it?
• Will you have to pay for shipping? Shipping costs can be outrageous. Who will pay: your customer, your company, or you?
• Will you have to do parties or shows?
• Is there a dress code? This sounds silly, but you should ask!
If at all possible, ask these questions of someone who has nothing riding on the answers. The person trying to recruit you into a company may have your best interests at heart. Or they might not. Go online and look for forums that discuss the company that interests you. Do a blog search for the real scoop. Ask someone else who is in the business, but has no investment in you.
